How long do custom trading cards take?

Most print-ready orders ship within 3–5 business days and are in hand in 1–2 weeks. Design projects run 3–4 weeks from the day your files are complete. Custom packaging adds 2–3 weeks. Here's exactly how the timeline works.

03 · When the clock starts

Three gates open the schedule

The estimate I give you is measured from the last of these — not from the day you first write in. When a project runs late, it is almost never the press — the time goes here.

01You

Payment

The deposit (or full payment, on smaller orders). Nothing enters the schedule before it — an unpaid invoice is the most common silent delay.

02You

Complete assets

The intake checklist: logo, roster, photos, stats — or press-ready files. One upload with everything beats five uploads with most of it.

03Together

Approvals

Proofs, then print-ready sign-off. Revisions are the least predictable part of the calendar — batch your feedback and keep one approver.

04 · Stage by stage

Who holds the ball, and for how long

The same five stages from How It Works, with the durations attached — and who is holding the ball at each one.

01

Inquiry & fit

MeNo clock yet

You write in, I reply with a quote and an estimated timeline before anything begins.

02

Assets

YouYou set the pace

The intake checklist. This is the biggest variable on the whole calendar — the clock starts when the last item lands.

03

Design & proofing

TogetherDepends on rounds

I design or press-check, you review. Batched feedback with one approver keeps rounds to a minimum.

04

Print

Me3–5 business days

Standard 16/18 pt stock runs 3–5 business days on press; specialty stock and vendor packaging run longer.

05

QA, packaging & delivery

MeShips when checked + transit

Checked by hand, packed, and out the door — standard-stock orders ship within 3–5 business days of approved files. UPS ground is 1–5 days from Exton, PA.

05 · Will my date work?

Check your date before you ask

Pick your path and the date you need cards in hand. I'll work backward the same way I do when I quote.

Send this date with my quote request
06 · Rush & tight deadlines

Need it faster? Ask.

Rush is possible more often than you'd expect — it depends on what's already on the schedule that week and how ready your files are, so I can't promise it from a page. What I can promise: send your in-hand date with your files (or photos) and I'll give you a straight yes or no quickly, including whether a rush fee or expedited shipping applies. When I've said yes, the cards have typically shipped in 1–5 days.

Helps

Print-ready files on standard stock · loose sets or labeled silver foil packs (wrappers are in stock) · one approver.

Can't rush

Custom printed and wax wrappers — those are 2–3 week vendor lead times I don't control. Design projects only compress if proofs are approved the same day they land.

07 · Season planner

Spring and December book up first

About half of all deadlines land May through August. In spring I take on a limited number of projects — a two-week head start is the difference between comfortable and rush.

Five ways to make it faster

01

Pay the deposit the day you're ready. The schedule opens when payment lands, not when we agree on scope.

02

Upload everything in one go. Work through the checklist once — photos, roster, stats, logos — instead of trickling files in.

03

Send press-ready files that pass the file guide. Correct bleed, resolution, and CMYK skips the file-fix loop entirely.

04

Name one approver. One person signs off on proofs. Committees add rounds, and every round adds days.

05

Batch your proof feedback. One list of changes per round beats ten separate emails.

09 · Shipping & delivery

From Exton, PA to your door

Standard-stock orders ship within 3–5 business days of approved files; design projects ship as soon as the printed set is checked. UPS ground takes 1–5 business days depending on your zone; expedited options are available, tracking is sent the day it leaves, and international shipping is available on request.

11 · Timing FAQ

Asked in your words

01

When would I need to deliver print-ready files to have cards by a certain date?

Work backward: standard stock runs 3–5 business days on press plus shipping, so plan on getting files to me 1–2 weeks before your date — 3 weeks if you're adding labeled foil packs. Or use the date checker above; it does the math the same way I do when I quote.

02

Can you hit a tight deadline?

Often, yes — it depends on what's on the schedule that week and how ready your files are. Send the date and the files together and I'll tell you quickly, including whether a rush fee or expedited shipping applies. Custom printed and wax wrappers are the one thing I can't speed up. This summer a 1,000-card order with 100 labeled packs shipped inside 10 days.

03

Do revisions push my date?

Yes — every round of changes adds time, and rounds are the least predictable part of any project. One list of changes per round and one approver is the fastest way through.

04

Can I lock in a spot before my season ends?

Yes — and it's the smart move. Pay the deposit and upload what you have; design starts on templates and layouts while you wait on final stats and photos.

05

Do you ship the same week you finish?

Yes. Standard-stock orders ship within 3–5 business days of approved files, and every order ships as soon as it's checked, with tracking sent the day it leaves. UPS ground takes 1–5 business days from Exton, PA.

06

What if my date moves?

Tell me as soon as you know. Earlier is easy; later means I re-slot production, and in the spring rush the next slot may not be immediate.
